Dr. Varindera Paul Singh

Dr. Varindera Paul Singh is one of India's most experienced neurosurgeons, with over four decades dedicated to the full spectrum of brain and nervous system surgery. As Chairman of Neurosurgery at Medanta - The Medicity in Gurugram, he brings a rare combination of surgical depth and clinical breadth — covering cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve conditions. He is especially known for his work in brain tumor surgery, cerebrovascular surgery, epilepsy surgery, and radiosurgery.

Dr. Singh trained through India's most rigorous academic pathways, earning his MBBS followed by both an MCh and a DNB in Neurosurgery. Much of his formative career was spent at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he served as Additional Professor and Unit Head of Neurosurgery. During his time at AIIMS, he was instrumental in establishing the Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Unit and launching the hospital's epilepsy surgery programme — milestones that have benefited thousands of patients since. He has also authored and co-authored over 70 papers in medical journals and books, reflecting his long-standing commitment to advancing neurosurgical practice.

After AIIMS, Dr. Singh continued building his career at VIMHANS, New Delhi, before joining Apollo Hospital, New Delhi in 2007 as a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon. He later moved to Medanta, where he now leads the neurosurgery department. Across these institutions, he has personally managed more than 400 intracranial aneurysm cases and has extensive hands-on experience with arteriovenous malformation treatment using radiosurgery techniques.
